The Holmenkollen Ski Jump
This is maybe the most famous ski arena in the world - and has for several years been one of Oslo's main tourist attractions. From Holmenkollen you have a breathtaking view of Oslo. In 2011 Holmenkollen hosted the World Championships.  For this event a brand new skijump was built.

The Vigeland Sculpture Park
Norway's most visited attraction with over 1 million visitors every year. The park has more than 200 sculptures by Gustav Vigeland (1869-1943), all modelled in full size. Vigeland also designed the architectural setting and the layout of the park.  The sculptures are placed on an 850 metre long axis with the 17,3 metre high Monolith sculpture placed on the highest point of the park. Outside the park is the Vigeland Museum witch was built by the municipality of Oslo to be used as workshop and residence for Gustav Vigeland. The museum opened in 1947 and houses almost his entire production including thousands of drawings, woodcarvings and sculptures.

The Viking Skip Museum
The Viking Ship Museum displays the worlds best preserved viking ships. The ships were built around 800 AD. They were found in three limportant chieftains burial mounds, where they were ment to take their owners to their last voyage after death. The exhibitions contains rich finds from the chieftains mounds.

The Kon-Tiki Museum
The museum houses original vessels and objects from Thor Heyerdahl's world famous expeditions; the balsa raft Kon-Tiki was used to cross the Pacific Ocean in 1947 and the papyrus raft Ra II was sailed from Marocco to Barbados in 1970. The museum also houses Easter Island statues and a model of  the reed boat Tigris (the original was burnt by Heyerdahl himself). In addition the museum also has a film room and activities for children.

The Polar Ship Fram
The polar ship Fram was used for three artic expeditions by Norwegian heroes Fridtjof  Nansen, Otto Sverdrup and Roald Amundsen.  The entire original artic exploration ship, built 1892, is exhibited with its original interior and inventory.

The Norwegian Maritime Museum
The Norwegian Maritime Museum is located at the waterfront at Bygdøynes. It presents fascinating environmental exhibitons about fishing, ship building, marine archaeology and impressive collections of boat models and marine paintings. The supervideograph presents a unique panoramic view of maritime Norway.  The artic vessel Gjøa and older boats are exhibited in the harbour.

The Norwegian Museum of Cultural History
This is one of Europe's largest open air museums. Here you will find a variety of traditional houses from many parts of Norway.   The Open-Air Museum features 150 authentic buildings from different regions, and also one of the country's oldest structures, Gol Stave Church, from the 13th century. The indoor exhibit feature Norwegian Folk Art, Norwegian Folk Dress, Sami Culture, Antique toys and Norways First Hall of Parliament. During the summer season lots of activities takes place, such as folk dancing and activities for children.

This museum opened in 1993 and shows changing exhibitions of Norwegian and foreign art from the post-war period until the present day. The items come from the museums own collections, as well as objects on loan for special exhibitions.

The Ibsen Museum
Presenting Henrik Ibsen's home in Oslo from 1895 until his death in 1906. His study has the original furniture. The entire apartment has been restored to be as similar to the original as possible.

The Norwegian Museum of Architecture
This is a national museum and was founded in 1975. The museum specializes in architectural and contemporary architecture and focuses particularly on Norwegian architecture after 1900.  The permanent exhibitions shows a history of buildings; 1000 years of Norwegian architecture. This is a sophisticated presentation of the building of Norway with lots of details models of important buildings.  The changing exhibitions focuses on both old masters and todays promising young architects, with themed exhibitions on key periods and the relationship between society and architecture. The museum also has a collection of drawings, photographs and models wich includes Henrik Bull, Arneberg and Poulsson among others. This collections is opened by appointments only.

The National Museum of Contemporary Art
Norway's largest museum of  Norwegian and internatinonal visual art from the post- 1945- period. The museum has an extensive collection, and is active in staging a varied programme of exhibitions and a wide range of other events.

The Museum of Applied Art
Founded in 1876.  Norwegian and international applied art, fashion and design from the 7th century to the present. The museum houses the largest collection of 16h and 17th century pictorial tapestries as well as outstanding collections of silver, glass, porcelain and furniture.

Norway's Resistance Museum
The museum is housed in an old protected building at Akershus Fortress. Five years of occupation (1940-45) from invasion to liberation are re-created with pictures, documents, posters, objects, models, original copies of newspapers and recordings.

Akershus Fortress and Castle
Dating from 1299, this is a Medieval castle and Royal Residence,  later a fortress from 1592. The castle was rebuilt into a renaissance castle 1637-1648.  Here you can see magnificent halls, the Castle church, the Royal Mausoleum and models of the castle.  Akershus Fortress also houses the Armed Forces Museum  where you can see Norwegian Military and Political history from the Vikings to the 1950's.

The city's administrative body, and seat of the City Council. Inaugurated in 1950, when Oslo city celebrated its 900th anniversary. Decorated by the foremost Norwegian artists from the period 1900-1950 with motifs from Norwegian history, culture and working life.

The Nobel Peace Center will reflect humanity’s best efforts to achieve peace in all its forms. We present the laureates and their work, Alfred Nobel and the Nobel system, and we are a meeting place for discussion and thoughts around war, peace and conflict resolution. The National Gallery

The Historical Museum
This museum contains 3 collections:
The Antiquities Collection - which shows Norwegian antiquities form the Stone Age to the Middle Ages including the outstanding Viking Age and Medieval collections.

The Collection of Coins and Medals -  exhibits the Norwegian coin history starting with Olav Trygvasson in 995.

The Etnographic Museum - This museum shows how people of non western origin, in the Arctic, in Africa, in North- and South-America and in East Asia have adapted to nature, created their own arts and craft, and practice their religion and rituals.

The Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden
The botanical garden is an oasis in the middle of Oslo. More than 1000 mountainplants, herbs and fragrant plants in a natural setting with waterfalls. Tropical flora in the greenhouses.  The area also houses the Zoological Museum which exhibits animals from all over the world and the Geological Museum, showing the creation and evolution of earth, minerals and gem stones from all over the world and a palenontological section with several skeletons and drawings of dinosaurs.
